$2.29..more on this later

Here we are, perhaps not missing Janet and Phil as much as we claim.  We are at Bronwyns feet while she eats popcorn.  The only thing we can assume about this photo is that Bronwyn had popcorn in both hands, and her mouth, and took the photo with one of her feet.  First, it's out of focus and half of Rockers face is cut off!  Hello?

Today, as usual, Janet and Phil walked up to get their coffee, Baileys in hand.  Phil has two jobs at home - make the morning latte and make our food.  It's only fitting that he get the coffee in Hawaii as well.  Here he is, coming out of Lava Java.

 Phil rocks the local look, and this Bad Boy is for sale across the street from our condo.  Could he purchase this and get a job hauling pineapple or sugar cane, in which case we could all go to Hawaii and live there?  Please note, his yellow semi wife beater...he bought that in France at a gas station.(What?  Who doesn't purchase clothing at a gas station...could there be a more appropriate place to purchase the semi wife beater?)

This really lucky guy gets to live here.

 Oh yes...back to the $2.29...Janet was going to purchase more green onions to put in the chicken salad, but at Safeway, they were $2.29.  A. Bunch.  Unbelievable.  Now who's a cheapskate?  In the end, she took her one remaining green onion and chopped it really fine.

This is the lunch Janet made today.  Normally they go out for lunch and have dinner at their condo.  Today, however, Phil wants to go to Sam Choy for dinner to have lamb chops.  Janet made chicken salad with local tomatoes, avocado, lettuce and imported sprouts and cucumber.  The chicken was left over from the second night they were here and bought a cooked chicken from Costco.  Janet doesn't like to buy meat or poultry that isn't free range, grass fed, etc, but sometimes it just can't be helped.

Coffee Time

Remember when Janet and Phil had the sashimi platter on New Years Eve?  Phil, being as  cheap innovative as possible, recycled the shoyu container and turned it into a Baileys container!  Every morning, Janet and Phil walk to Lava Java to have coffee.  It's about 30 minutes each direction.  Janet always has the large iced latte and Phil has a large latte that he pours his Baileys into.

Live music this morning at Lava Java...how cool is that!  He sang Over The Rainbow, just like Iz...a classic.

We are really glad that Janet and Phil are having so much fun, but we wish they would return and take us back to YYJ.  Mike and Bronwyn are really nice and take good care of us, but it's just not home.

Shopping Tid Bits

This will not be a big piece of news to most people, but Janet doesn't like shopping.  Wait - that's not true - she hates shopping!

So, while dogsitting in PDX, Janet thought she was being very clever ordering a bathing suit online from Nordstroms.  Janet hasn't had a bathing suit on for at least a decade.  The suit came, and of course, she was upset because it didn't look on her like it did on the model  Seriously, who is this woman?   If it looked the same on Janet, as it did on the model, why wouldn't she give up her three day/week volunteer job at a homeless shelter to be come a bathing suit model?   To pour salt in an open wound, Bronwyn says to Janet "get a grip Mom, only supermodels order bathing suits online".  Sigh!

So, yesterday, we showed you the picture of Janet in her new suit, with coverup and hat.  She is pretty happy about the suit.  In addition, she got two pairs of runners, some yoga gear and....MOTBD #1 -that would be Mother of The Bride Dress!  She was pretty excited.

Today, they drove to Waikoloa to look around and have lunch.  Guess what?  MOTBD #2 done..BAM!

Mike and Brownyn and Rose LOVE Maui Built.  It's a store on Maui that sells shirts, shorts, etc.  Bronwyn wanted to buy Phil a shirt from there for Christmas.  She wanted the "wife beater" and Janet wanted the full on T-shirt.  Bronwyn met halfway with the semi "wife beater".  Here is Phil rockin' his Maui Built.
