The People Go To Hawaii!

Janet, Phil and Bronwyn packed up and went to Hawaii.  We were super sad!
It's OK, Noodies.  Don't cry..you will be safe here with Mikey and I.
Benedict Pawrnold!  Traitors!  Why can't we go?
We were assured of our well being as Phil made all our food before they left.  This is one counter of a total of three!
Phil wanted to make it as easy as possible for Mikey as he is taking care of us all by himself.  And, he was driving Janet nuts whilst doing so!
This is what happened right after they left PDX.  Can you believe it?  Mikey told Bronwyn the wind was so strong, Noodles could hardly stand up straight.
Since Mikey took this photo, PDX has been stricken with freezing rain and the city is almost shut down.  A couple of days prior to Janet and Phil leaving, Bronwyn asked if Janet could bring some freezer food for Mikey.  She had some curry in the freezer and then made some Chicken Noodle Soup and Beef Short Rib Stew that she also froze and took.  Good thing!  Mikey is trapped in Fairview!
They met Meg and Finley late on the day of their arrival.  Whilst we are freezing our collective puppy dog butt cracks off, here THEY are!  Auntie B2 is colouring on the beach with Finley.
They went to lunch at Sam Choy!
Island Salad with Seared Catch of the Day and Wasabi Salad Dressing.  Catch of the Day is"code speak" for the fact that Janet can't remember what the fish was.

Who doesn't love Hawaiian French Fries?
Plus, they took selfies!
Last night, Janet says she made hamburgers for dinner and Pasta Salad.  Phil grilled the burgers and nothing screams good burger to Janet more than a toasted bun.

The toasted part.
The part that was not meant to be burned beyond recognition toasted!
Who, in their right mind toasts (read seriously chars) the top of the bun?
Janet says Phil, Meg and Bronwyn all trooped out the door to drive 1 1/2 hours each way up island to see the Green Sand Beach.  There are only 4 Green Sand Beaches in the world.  Once you arrive at the destination and if you don't own a 4WD, you are hiking in.  2 1/2 miles each way.  Janet was super generous and said she would stay home with Finley.  This speaks volumes for what an incredible lazy ass generous, giving person that Janet is.

This is how it rocks in Yayaland - everyone pitches in, even the little keikis!  Finley carried out the recycle.
In kind of a scary move, he organized all the shoes by the door....just like Yaya would!
This shoe business is totally Yaya style scary.  They are even organized by the pair!
They hung some artwork.
This polka dot tape was a gift for Finley from Santa and he loves it.  Yaya says she hopes it wasn't expensive as he isn't afraid to lavish the tape everywhere.
They walked into town and went to the market.
This is $18 worth of veggies and the green onions were only $1 each as opposed to the exact same onions in the grocery store for $2 that year after year, drive Janet out of her skull!
They passed this great church that is 193 years old!
They spent some time on the beach in front of the condo in their beach jammies!
Yaya actually went to the trouble to put clothes on.
On a very sad note, one of Janet and Phil's special friends, Mr. David Burr has passed away. They had known him for close to 30 years.  After not seeing each other for some time, Phil and Janet reconnected with David through our good friend and neighbour, Super Wendy.  He was a great guy who was well loved by so many.  Sadly, Janet and Phil won't be back in YYJ in time for his service, but they are willing to bet it will be standing room only.

Good night and in memory of such a one of a kind guy!
