Family Day Weekend - Food Edition!

Everyone came home!  We were super busy and the people ate a lot of food!  Mr. Stingy Guts portions our food out to the ounce, so no chance of us over eating.  He and Bronwyn think I'm getting chubby.  Janet is on my team and is willing to sign an affidavit swearing my fur is just fluffier.  She didn't win!

They had Lori and Steve and Karen and Ken over for a big pot of Chili with Cornbread.  The only photos Janet managed to take was the mess at the end.

An actual live person/food photo:
Swallows Cheesecake - Janet makes this often as it is super easy - make it the night ahead, bake it for 30 minutes, shut the oven off and next morning - Voila!  She also made Raspberry Red Wine sauce for the topping.  The green onions in the background were not part of the cheesecake.

They went for big Chinese lunch as the next day was Chinese New Years - Year of the Monkey!
Phil looks worried!  Brian looks hungry!  Derek looks studious!
Janet doesn't remember this dish from before, but Briana requested it.  Salt and Pepper Tofu - really delicious.

Janet and Phil had ham at Karen and Kens' a few months ago and Janet has been craving it since.  Initially, she was going to do a Prime Rib Roast, but all the roasts at Costco were too small.  They ordered a really beautiful bone in ham from Village Butcher that Phil says cost the earth.  He is such a tightwad sometimes.  I think we mentioned before that his quite new, expensive camera could be ruined but what we don't hear are any grumblings about the replacement cost!

Again, the only photos we have are the aftermath.
They had the ham with a Mustard Glaze, Scalloped Potatoes, Cauliflower with Cheese and Mustard Sauce and Green Beans.  Two nights in a row, nearly all the food was gone!
On the holiday Monday, all the "girls" went to the Penny for two for one Fish & Chips!

After almost everyone had left, they had Split Pea Soup with some of the leftover ham!   Janet always thinks of Mikey when she makes this soup as he really likes it and because Mike and Bronwyn have the same slow cooker.

If you can stand the excitement and the wait, our next post will be about our Family Day activities!
