Pashy, Work Horse!

Who knew a cute, shorty ass, incredibly precious doggie could run errands?  Me, Pashy, was pressed into service today to run errands.  Am I not too important for this kind of BS?  Apparently not!

First stop - City Hall to buy the other guys their doggie tags.  Dogs can go in the city hall!  This was pretty exciting for me.  I made wet doggie footprints all the way to the counter, but Janet made out like she didn't see them.
Janet wanted me to study the green food recycle plan, but if she can't go there, why should I?
Next stop was the Village Butchers so Janet could buy some pork chops and ground beef.
That's our umbrella.
Janet just finished watching the British show "Broadchurch".  Now an American TV channel is remaking this show, called "Gracepoint".  A large part of it is being filmed in Oak Bay.  Two days in a row,  Janet and I have walked up to the Ave to try to see some movie stars (and see if I can get a role as "guest pup").  Tons of activity, but no stars so far.  Nor, any puppy role offers.  Wouldn't that be great?  A limo, guest suite at Oak Bay Beach Hotel, Directors  Pup chair, barking for interviews?
This store front has enjoyed many activities.  The farthest Janet can remember was a grocery store with nice hardwood floors, then Charles Rupert next a clothing store and then a pharmacy.
A small number of the trucks for the filming.  They are going to be filming here for 5 months.  The lead detective in Broadchurch is here to revive his role as well as NicK Nolte and Anna Gunn who was the wife in Breaking Bad.
My feet, after a rainy walk:
Check it out!  Look what Jer made for his loving mother...a fabulous new cutting board!  Janet was super excited...first because it's incredibly beautiful and her previous favourite board is 37 years old.

Dinner...BBQ Chicken Pizza.  Yummy!

Rockers Roars Back!

He's back!  Janet and Phil were so worried about him.  Rockers stopped eating on Sunday and for four days did not eat, got up twice a day to go outside to go to the bathroom, and then slept the rest of the day.  Phil took him to the vet twice.  First visit, Dr. Smith said Rockers had a very high temperature, so they gave him an injection of antibiotics.  Next day, his temperature was back to normal, but still wouldn't eat.

Noodles was feeling really bad, so she went to keep Rockers company while he was so sick.
I got your back bro'...hang in there!
The dinner he doesn't want, which is his favourite Sick Puppy Dinner made of cooked ground beef, cottage cheese and cooked rice.  Janet was so absorbed with Rockers illness she neglected to vacuum up that big pile of dog fur next to the nylabone!
When Phil took Rockers back to the vet for the second visit, he required a urine sample.  Thus, a new tool, The Canine Urine Sample Kit was born....patent pending!
He was pretty excited about this.  It's a thin piece of metal with a pill bottle duct taped on the bottom.  Janet said WTF, but when Phil asked her if she was prepared to get her hand peed on, she graciously declined.
And, action!
Turns out, I, Pashy also had to go to the vet.  Janet noticed I smelled funny one day.  Karen was over the next day enlightening Janet on what minky cloth was and Karen agreed about the odour.  Karens' thought was an unexpressed anal gland as their "dog share program" Lola had the same smell and Dr. Ken addressed the anal gland.  Oddly enough, he declined to do mine!  No matter, as it turns out I have a bad infection.  Now I also need to take antibiotics and have cream applied.  This was initially a huge struggle as it took three people to hold me down at the vet to clean it out.  It doesn't hurt so much now, so I am as cooperative as could be.

Janet took me to Uplands Park on Wednesday.  Check out Milly, my new BFF.  Millys' handlers are John and Sheri whom Janet used to work for.  She is four months old, really friendly and as cute as a button.
Janet and Phil were super excited - Rockers joins us in the kitchen and actually wants to eat dinner.

Adventures In Sewing!

Wow!  Janet is really into this sewing gig!  Today, she drove All.  The.  Way. to Fabricland.  This might not seem like all that big of a deal to the average person, but when it comes to cars and driving, Janet is as far from the average driver as a guy can get.  She doesn't like driving, so mentally plans out her route, gathers her nerves of steel and heads out in the car that Phil refuses to drive - the Volvo.  Doesn't matter where Phil is headed, he MUST take the Leaf.

It all went well.  She purchased some pretty ribbon to make a second Tag Blanket and then went to Target, conveniently located next door, and purchased some baby rings.

These are the two Tag Blankets, lying side by side.
More on Janet's ancient sewing notions.  Check this out:
The buckles on top were 40 cents for both of them.  Apparently at one point in time, Janet was going to make a belt to go around what is now her "formerly known as a waist line".  The pattern on the left cost 50 cents and has Janet's maiden name on it.  You can't read it, but the pattern on the right has Janet's mothers maiden name hand written on. Unbelievable!
Bonus!  While she was cleaning up the "secret closet" upstairs, where she apparently dumped all sewing goods 25 years ago, look what she found:
Must be at least 30 years old, Janet says.

When we woke up this morning, Rockers had on a funny sleeping position.  He wouldn't eat his breakfast (bonus for me, Pashy!) and hasn't moved all day.  Janet is worried about him.  He also wouldn't eat his dinner, so Janet is going to make him some sick puppy food.

I found this fabulous piece of wood outside, but it was all dirty and Janet through it back outside where I couldn't reach it.
More soup success....Cauliflower Soup and Cream of Broccoli.  Janet loves making soup!

Home made croutons, to boot!

Suzy Homemaker Busts A Gut!

Whoa....Janet is on fire in the sewing department.  She made Mr. Baby four bibs!  She is so proud of herself.
There were a couple of boo boos.  See the polka dot one; Janet forgot a Cardinal Rule about sewing...wash the fabric first!  It was flannel and it turned out that it hardly shrunk at all.

This one was also a mistake.  First, Janet started to stitch Mr. Baby's name in brown floss as she didn't have a correct match for the red or orange in the fabric.  We are now at the corner of Sewing and Anal.  The brown was pulled out and replaced with yellow.  Half way through again, Janet realizes the yellow is too light, but by this point in time has 2 and 1/2 hours invested in a bib, so said f**k it!  It will be good exercise for Mr. Baby to find the faint yellow thread!

Phil was crazy enough to agree with her about her bad colour choice!
Despite a couple of setbacks, Suzy is pretty chuffed about her sewing.  Then guess what!!  Meg emails with a sewing request!  Who ever would have thought!  Meg wants to know if Janet can make a tag blanket.  This had Janet over a barrel as she had no clue what that was.  She mentioned it to Mr. Needs To Watch His Back Phil who scoffed at her....it appears Janet is the lone person on the planet who doesn't know what this is.  Never mind, some Google trips and a trip to the fabric store and look out!  One Tag Blanket, coming up.

Janet found this super squeaky toy for me.  I played with it for a couple of days until it met it's sad demise.
After the end of the squeaky toy, I returned to the good old nylabone.
Nopawdy, but nopawdy is getting this from me!
Phil went to his office Kick Off Meeting, where he was honoured to be the person with the second highest sales for 2013.  He was pretty happy!  In addition, they had a draw for all realtors and Phil won an iPad mini.  He traded it in for an iPad Air to give to Janet (or at least, that's what Janet says.)  Check it out!

Phil is going on his "guys ski trip" to Whistler next weekend.  Janet lives for this trip for a couple of reasons.  She can do whatever she wants, whenever she wants (is she nuts...this looks like her entire life to us!) and when Phil gets home, he can't walk down the stairs for at least two days, which is a huge source of amusement for Janet.  Rats!  This year, he is on a stair climbing mission to eradicate the post skiing pain.  Janet has gone a couple of times as well.  See that teeny tiny dot at the top....that's Phil!
He went up six times, sometimes jogging.  Janet went up four times.  She says there a alot of stairs.  Next time she will count.

Janet Lives For The Laundry!

Wow....Janet had a super day whilst doing the laundry.  Normally, she hates this chore, but man, oh, man...check this out!
Janet doesn't even remember the last time she saw a $100 bill!  Bonus!
Look at how cute Rockers and I are sleeping in the exact same position:
Me, Pashy in my favourite spot under the kitchen table.

Rockers in his favourite spot....my old sectional sofa.
I managed to find this really great (Janet says gross) tennis ball and ripped it to shreds before Mrs. Super Duper Anal removed it and put it in the garbage.

Janet also kicked her sewing up a notch or two!  Will this turn into a regular marathon of really bad words and doggies avoiding wherever the sewing machine is?  She has already completed a couple of small things for Mr. Baby that we will post soon.
She turned the cupboard in the spare room into a sewing cupboard!

These are some of the notions in Janet's sewing basket.  Janet claims she is only 60 years old, but this doesn't add up.  Either she inherited these notions or she is really 80 years old.  19 cents for some hooks and eyes??  Then 25 cents?  Seriously, we don't believe this b*lls**t for one second!  Do hooks and eyes have an expiry date?
Yay!  Gyoza!

Pashy Is Back At The Keyboard!

I'm back, guys!  Noodles and Rockers are really old and are super easy to boss around.  Not that I want to take advantage, but I wonder if I can get them to give me their bank card PINS?  Or, what if I explained to them that I have inherited some money that is located in Nigeria and just need their bank accounts to free up the money for "us"?

Look, it's a trifecta of doggies!
That's me in the very back.
Noodles lives to pick up pieces of kelp and gets on her snappy doggy walk whenever she finds some.
This was a pretty long piece of kelp, so her snappy walk was some what inhibited.
All three of us discovered a new activity.....watching Phil sharpen knives!  Was it really all that riveting or is it a case of never having him seen him do it before?
Yesterday, Janet walked us by ourselves, so she took Noodles and Rockers first.  I waited patiently by the door for my turn and then it was "hosta la vista, babies"! See ya later suckers!

I have this really clever way of making a cute little growling noise, under my breath; kind of like talking.  Janet is such a sucker, she falls for it every time!  This is Phils turn to take an out of focus photo.
Unfortunately for Janet, I have shorty bum legs, so my slim and trim tummy is quite close to the ground.  As a result, I drag home alot of grit and dirty rain water.

Janet's photographic skills are weak on moving puppy leg!
Christmas is officially over for the Municipality of Oak Bay.  They are removing all the Christmas lights.  We still have our outside lights up, so apparently Phil has not received the memo.
Janet is on a new cooking gig....soup!  She says her soup repertoire is indeed very weak.  For years, she only made Corn Chowder, that our children refer to as Milk Soup.  Now she is indeed, branching out.  Two new soups this week...both from The Pioneer Woman.  Broccoli Cheddar Soup and Hamburger Soup.  She said both were delicious!
On a side note, this year Janet and her daughters, by accident, did not participate in "The We All Buy Each Other The Same Cookbook Christmas Scheme".  This years book would have been The Pioneer Woman's "Holiday Cookbook".  Only Janet was fortunate enough to receive one.  Many a good cookbook has participated in this holiday tradition.

Plus, Rustic Bread from their new favourite bakery, Leaven.

Rockers Is Back!

Move over, Pashy!  You might still be in Camp Canada, but it's boots paws on the ground, and I am making this blog.

This is not a really recent happening, but goes to show how lame Janet's life is.  She actually thinks this is exciting!  Starting 01 January, 2014 we need to put all food scraps that cannot go into the garburater, inside this green bin.  It comes with a tiny green bin to store in your kitchen and some green bags that composte.  Janet doesn't really want to do this as the garbage and recycle happens only every second week and she fears our house will become an even larger, more legendary Fruit Fly Farm than it is.
Before Mike and Bronwyn left, Janet made some scones they could take home to their offices for a treat.  Bronwyn had purchased some Devonshire Cream.
She hasn't had her sifter out for quite some time.
Janet says we are really lucky to live where we do and that Friday marked 28 years of them living here,  in the same house.  When Our Children were little, they could walk to the beach, walk to school, the rec centre and Oak Bay Village.  This was back in the Olden Days when children could walk places by themselves.  Now look what we can walk to:
Christmas Tree recycle, down at the Fire Hall at the end of our street.  Pash and Janet went for  much longer walk at this point.  You could tell Pash was afraid she was going to miss out on something because she was throwing on the brakes big time!
This morning, Noodles and Pashy were going nuts on the back deck.  Janet went  out to see what the big issue was.
We aren't sure if it's Olly or Olivias new kitty as they look very similar.

Completely mesmerized!

Cool your jets, guys.  There isn't a hope in hell you can get on the garage roof next door!
